Former SCAS Pro Futura Fellow Sara Danius Has Passed Away

Former SCAS Pro Futura Fellow Sara Danius sadly passed away on 12 October 2019.

Sara Danius, born in 1962, belonged to the first generation of SCAS Pro Futura Fellows, admitted
to the programme in 1999. She was in residence at the Swedish Collegium in the academic year
2004-05.

Sara Danius was a scholar, author and literary critic. Since 2013, she was Professor of Literature
at Stockholm University. In 2013 she was also inducted into the Swedish Academy and two years
later, in 2015, she became the Academy's first ever female Permanent Secretary.
